On October 13, 2000 in the Jubilee Year, and on the anniversary of the final apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, his Excellency Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Camden, officially established Mater Ecclesiae Mission as a Mission Church for those Catholics who feel an attachment to the Traditional Latin Mass. Mater Ecclesiae Mission was established with no regional borders. Mater Ecclesiae was the first canonically established mission owned and staffed by a Roman Catholic Diocese that has been granted exclusive use of the Roman Missal of 1962.
