St. Vincent Pallotti, Haddon Township

On January 20, 1963, Pope John XXIII declared Vincent Pallotti to be a saint. It was on February 9, 1963 that our parish was officially erected as the first parish in the world to be under the patronage of this new Saint of God. The first pastor was Father (later Monsignor) Bernard P. Hewitt.

Masses were first celebrated on Sundays at Haddon Township High School and on weekdays at Santa Maria Council Knights of Columbus Home. The ground breaking for the new church with rectory facilities attached took place on January 3, 1965. Pope Paul VI High School and Convent were built on sites adjacent to the church building.
