It was my desire to become Catholic, but I knew the classes for RCIA would be especially
challenging since I am deaf. I knew I couldn't afford to pay an interpreter for the entire
year it would take to attend the RCIA classes. The Diocese's Ministry with the Deaf
Office, through support from the House of Charity - Bishop's Annual Appeal, helped me obtain
an interpreter for the classes last year, and my conversion to the Catholic faith was
complete at the Easter Vigil.
Since I came into the Church, I have met so many wonderful people, both hearing and deaf,
who have made me feel so welcome. The House of Charity - Bishop's Annual Appeal helped
me and many like me who have faced difficult situations. -LB, Pennsville |
