Corpus Christi, Carney's Point

On May 23, 1966, Corpus Christi parish was established and staffed by the Vocationist Fathers with Father Thomas Adinolfi, S.D.V. as first pastor. Mass was first celebrated in the new parish in homes of parishioners and in the new St. James High School on Georgetown Road directly across from the Corpus Christi parish site. Corpus Christi parish church-hall and rectory were dedicated on May 10, 1970.

Ground breaking for a new church took place on the feast of Corpus Christi, June 21, 1981. The new church, unique in design and artistic features, was dedicated by Bishop Guilfoyle on June 5, 1983.
